KINS Go Big on ‘Little Dancer’

Almost nothing sounds small on “Little Dancer,” the latest single from the Stockholm/London-based quartet KINS. The second track they’ve shared from their upcoming Cyclical EP, it’s an almost nine-minute epic in which every moment — even its hushed, reverb-heavy guitar intro — feels like a grand gesture. Floating atop wobbly synths and an ever-thumping bass drum, lead singer Thomas Savage’s malleable falsetto oscillates between Perfume Genius-like delicacy and a biting whine that recalls Alt-J’s Joe Newman. But his voice is just one texture among many here, and it ultimately gives way to a well-earned maelstrom of cymbals and synths.

The Cyclical EP is out July 6 via East City Records. Stream “Little Dancer” right here.
