DJ Parler Brought the Jams to our SPIN-JUUL Party

On Friday June 19, SPIN teamed up with JUUL and Rooftop Films for an exclusive takeover of Brooklyn’s Industry City for the aptly-named series “New York Non-Fiction.” This sprawling showcase of contemporary, New York-based short films featured a masterful set of neo-noir snapshots from the city and beyond, with a radiant sunset over the East River providing a suitably epic backdrop to the event.

After a Q&A with the filmmakers, partygoers gathered in the courtyard for summery cocktails, beer and tunes provided that helped transition the mood from contemplative to celebratory. Noted New York mainstay DJ Parler, who’ll be featured next month at the Brooklyn Hip Hop Festival alongside Common and Mobb Deep, brought a confluence of hip hop gems to the floor, seamlessly spinning tracks like Kendrick Lamar’s “Alright” into classics like A Tribe Called Quest’s “Electric Relaxation.” If you weren’t on the dance floor invoking the spirits of New York hip hop legends, chances are you could be found in the plush JUUL Vaporstream lounge, sampling the latest in vape technology and watching a warm, summer night unfold over the big city.

Check out our photo gallery above from the event, and thank you to our friends at JUUL and Rooftop Films for inviting us to participate in this NYC summertime staple.
