New York City live music institution Cake Shop has been throwing a series of shows in celebration of its 10th anniversary this year, but they really don’t get much more special than what happened on Friday night. Under their Condo Fucks moniker, the members of Yo La Tengo took to the Cake Shop stage for a nearly hour-long set of covers.
Fortunately NYC Taper was on hand to capture the whole thing. Of particular note from the wild set list are roiling renditions of the Stooges’ “T.V. Eye,” Swamp Dogg‘s “Total Destruction to Your Mind” (featuring guest vocals from WFMU host Gaylord Fields) and Televisions Personalities’ jangle-pop classic “Look Back in Anger.” The whole set is available to download over at NYC Taper, but you can catch a couple of their recordings below.
