The Velvet Teen Return After Nine Years With Serene New Single, ‘The Giving In’

The indie-rock trio's 'All Is Illusory' drops June 30

It’s been nine years since Santa Rosa indie-rock trio the Velvet Teen released their last album, 2006’s Cum Laude!, but this summer they’re coming back with a brand-new album, All Is Illusory. They just shared their first single from the upcoming LP, “The Giving In,” a lofty, tranquil track that moves along with a light but confident energy, like a less chest-beating incarnation of early U2. “What can be borrowed and spent, as well as bought and killed?” asks band founder Judah Nagler, before assuring “Only I will tell and heal all wounds / I’m behind you all the way, for all the days to come / I’m on your side.” Stream it below, look for All Is Illusory on June 30, and pre-order your copy here.
