David Letterman, who is prepping to host his final Late Show on May 20, is an unabashed fan of Ryan Adams‘ (whose Heartbreaker ranked on SPIN‘s Best 300 Albums of the Last 30 Years list). The alt-country performer first played the late-night show back in 2001, which led to ten — yes, ten — additional appearances, and last night Adams turned up for the eleventh and final time to perform the same track he did back then: “Starting to Hurt” (from 2002’s Demolition).
