Eddie Vedder Kicks Off Letterman’s Last Week With ‘Better Man’

Monday night marked David Letterman’s third-to-last appearance as the host of the Late Show, and he continued his streak of stellar, sentimental guest musicians by having Pearl Jam’s Eddie Vedder on the program. Vedder played an impassioned, heartfelt rendition of Pearl Jam’s classic Vitalogy cut “Better Man,” and as Stereogum notes, he put so much energy into the track that he busted a string on his guitar. It was a fitting start to Letterman’s last week of shows, especially since American Treasure Tom Hanks was the guest.

Watch the performance above, and be sure to watch Letterman’s last show on Wednesday, May 20. No guests have been announced, but it’s going to be “an hour filled with surprises,” so we wouldn’t be shocked if some big names turn up.
