Foo Fighters Close Out Last ‘Letterman’ with ‘Everlong’

Following their first performance of “Everlong” on The Late Show with David Letterman 15 years ago while the host was recovering from open-heart surgery, the Foo Fighters (Letterman’s self-proclaimed “favorite band”) returned to close out the program with the same song. Watch their bittersweet, tuxedo-clad set below, interspersed with historical footage from Letterman’s 33 years on the air and topped off with a healthy dose of pyrotechnics.

It’s not easy to upstage the Foo Fighters but an all-star list including Alec Baldwin, Jim Carrey, and Barbara Walters came close as they counted down David Letterman’s top ten last words. Scroll down for that clip.
