Years & Years Ascend to ‘King’ Status in Stunning Live Performance

All it takes for a new band to spark in the mainstream is a flicker of creative innovation. That said, “King” is what takes Years & Years from the insular world of indie-pop to stadium-worthy stardom. The U.K. trio have a knack for crafting intricately memorable hooks — “I-I-I / I was a king under your control,” singer Olly Alexander yelps – and, in a recent special performance of the track at the YouTube Space in Los Angeles, the lads demonstrated just what’s so special about their tunes.

Be ready for plenty more Years & Years in the coming months. With a very visible cosign from Carly Rae Jepsen and Katy Perry at the band’s recent sold-out New York City show, their debut album, Communion (due on June 22 via Interscope), is one of the year’s most hotly anticipated releases.
