Yazan Revives the Ghosts of Old Southern Blues on ‘Tell Me Baby’

If you’re desperate for a proper Southern-style rhythm ‘n’ blues resurrection, well, Brooklyn-based artist Yazan might just be your saving grace. On the cusp of releasing his new four-track EP, Howlin’, his single ‘Tell Me Baby” is an electrifying (literally, since this is Yazan’s first non-acoustic release) sneak peek at the rollicking chaos to come.

“I’m glad that the days of being confused about love are behind me,” Yazan tells SPIN of his new single. “‘Tell Me Baby’ is all about that confused and lowdown feeling where you know your love is disintegrating, and you put off admitting the truth for just one more night. Your heart always knows the truth anyway, but sometimes you just need to hear it from someone else in order to begin to move on.”

Listen to “Tell Me Baby” below, and look for Howlin’ when it drops on April 21 via Shoulder Tap Records.
