Jayson Gerycz — whom you might recognize from his percussion-work in garage-core outfit Cloud Nothings — has toned down the intensity a notch with a poppier punk sound in Total Babes. The Ohio-based band have shared the new title track from their upcoming sophomore LP, Heydays, out on May 19 via Wichita Recordings.
Starting with a slow drumbeat and agitated-sounding rhythm guitar, “Heydays” evolves to a chaotic place with verses reeking of instability (“Cold and shaking / staggering and kneeling”). Check out the playfully turbulent track below.
