Last year, the Baltimore synth-punks in Future Islands put out Singles, which launched them to widespread critical acclaim. There’s likely a lot of people out there now who’d be happy to purchase a new release by the band, but it seems their latest release is going to be pretty hard to come by. Recorded at the legendary Abbey Road Studios, their latest single “The Chase” was cut directly to vinyl and as such only one copy exists. It’ll be placed today in a single record store in the U.K. to celebrate Record Store Day.
As such, it’s a stunt release of Jack White levels of exclusivity, but fortunately it premiered today worldwide on Mary Anne Hobbs’ BBC Radio 6 show. So you can hear the swooning track in full over at the 2:19:00 mark of this stream.
