Ego Ella May Gives Soul A Futuristic Twist on Her New EP, ‘Zero’

South London’s Ego Ella May returns with her Zero EP, a followup to her breakthrough Breathing Underwater EP, a collection of three neo-soul tracks that are as smooth as Ella May’s hypnotic voice. The advance track “How Far”, produced by Wu-Lu and Reiss G, brings Ella May’s vocals to the forefront in a soulful musing on love with a richness that eerily mirrors early Erykah Badu, but stands on its own ground with seamless electronic production.

The singer-songwriter and guitarist cements her status an exciting future voice for R&B on the EP’s first track, “Bull”, a slinky song straight out of a 21st-century Cotton Club, complete with left-field piano sounds and jazzy bass mixed with seductive, smooth vocals. Check out Ella May’s irresistible combination of soul, jazz and electronic elements below, and look out for her debut album later this year.
