Courtney Love Reads Hate Mail About Her and Kurt Cobain in ‘Montage’ Clip

Kurt Cobain: Montage of Heck is out in select theaters now, and will premiere on HBO come May 4. Until then, viewers can kick back with a new clip from the film, which has surfaced online. The home movie portrays a telling scene, in which Cobain and his then-wife are hanging out in their L.A. apartment (also known as the one that’s currently listed on Airbnb) reading an angry letter to the editor reacting to the couple’s now-famous Sassy cover.

As Love reads the letter out loud, the camera hones in on Cobain, who’s all dolled up in a dress, mustache, and lipstick, mouthing Love’s words, which are apparently written by a Nirvana superfan who calls Cobain a “God of love in human form” and herself a “Kurt slave.” (Geeze. Kinda gives Facebook commenters a run for their money, eh?) Watch the clip above, look out for Kurt Cobain: Montage Of Heck on May 4 on HBO, and read SPIN‘s interview with the film’s director, Brett Morgen, here.
