MTV2 Orders Another Round of ‘Celebrity Deathmatch’

Amazing news from a channel you might not have enjoyed with any regularity in a while: MTV2 has announced plans to bring Celebrity Deathmatch back. The claymation comedy initially ran sporadically from 1998 through 2007 and featured famous names fighting for their lives in an enclosed wrestling-like pen. (And this was before the Hunger Games.)

According to the Hollywood Reporter, Deathmatch creator Eric Fogel and Wasteland Entertainment are backing the show’s reboot, while Chris McCarthy and Paul Ricci are taking the helm as executive producers. The Reporter also notes that while the new version will still feature animated fantasy fights, the bouts will be updated slightly to fit in with today’s social media beef culture.
