As part of the AXE White Label Collective’s SXSW day party — powered by SPIN — fans were treated to performances by James Davis, ASTR, Lolawolf, YG, and John Legend, who brought along five mentees who had the chance to wow the crowd at one of music’s most prestigious festivals.After powering up with “Operate,” ASTR turned their electro-trap eyes towards new music off their upcoming Homecoming EP, set to impact later this spring. Legend kept his time brief but memorable, closing with the gorgeously impactful “All of Me.” Zoe Kravitz glowered and prowled across the stage as Lolawolf brought their blend of electronica and chillwave to the Austin crowds just moments before California rapper YG turned up for his only SXSW set.
Rolling through hits that included “Who Do You Love?,” “Left, Right,” and Bicken Back Being Bool,” the hip-hop impressario couldn’t stop himself from grinning as he joked around with the audience, demonstrating some low-key stellar dance moves along the way. In what seemed like no time at all, YG’s set was over, leaving the captivated crowd wanting more from the unforgettable AXE White Label Collective day party.
