Speedy Ortiz Detail New Album ‘Foil Deer’ in Sci-Fi Comic Strip

The noise-rock quartet has also unveiled the record's artwork and track list

Last month, Speedy Ortiz frontwoman Sadie Dupuis told SPIN about Foil Deer, the band’s forthcoming follow-up to 2014’s Real Hair EP and 2013’s Major Arcana. Now, the Massachusetts outfit has revealed Foil Deer’s album art (seen above), track list, and a jokey sci-fi comic officially announcing the record. Drawn by artist Michael DeForge, the strip portrays a “future” in which “most people only recognize Foil Deer by Speedy Ortiz in its current form.”

“I gave up wasting mental energy on people who didn’t have my back,” said Dupuis in a press release. “Listening to our old records, I get the sense that I was putting myself in horrible situations just to write sad songs. The music isn’t coming from a dark place, and without slipping into self-empowerment jargon, it feels stronger.”

Check the comic and track list below, and look out for Foil Deer when it drops April 21 via Carpark Records.
