As the dust settles around Kanye West’s latest public misstep around what “true artistry” means at the Grammys, Shirley Manson has unleashed some choice words for the rapper in a recent Facebook post. “Grow up and stop throwing your toys around,” said the Garbage singer, before commenting on the irony of West’s assertion toward Beck: “You disrespect your own remarkable talents and more importantly you disrespect the talent, hard work and tenacity of all artists when you go so rudely and savagely after such an accomplished and humble artist like BECK…. You are making yourself look like a complete twat.”
Though Beck has every reason to write his own rant after almost being interrupted onstage while accepting his Album of the Year Grammy for Morning Phase, the singer-songwriter has stayed entirely classy, telling Us Weekly, “[Kanye] deserves to be on stage as much as anybody.”
