Kanye West Guests, Takes a Dig at Nike During Big Sean Show

Kanye West Nike Big Sean New Slaves Hollywood Video

Big Sean performed a livestreamed concert for Yahoo! last night in the Hollywood House of Blues, and with all of music’s stars in town for tonight’s Grammys ceremony he was able to enlist a few of his famous friends for guest spots, including his GOOD Music boss Kanye West. ‘Ye showed up first during a performance Sean’s recent single “Blessings” and then launched into a few of his own songs, including the Yeezus standout “New Slaves.” But before launching into that track, the ever-opinionated aesthete took the occasion to fire shots at his former business partners in Nike, on the eve of the release of his new shoes for Adidas.

“I just want to talk to Portland right quick, everybody at the Nike office right quick,” he began. “I know the execs are saying ‘Nike ain’t scared of Kanye West.’ But y’all should thank Nike because they made me make these songs right here.”

It’s unclear exactly what Kanye was referring to, but it seems like he’s implying at least that his recent musical output is tied to the dissolution of his relationship with the brand. You can watch video of Big Sean’s whole set, which also features appearances from DJ Mustard, YG, Chris Brown, Justin Bieber, Ty Dolla $ign, and Tyga up above, or you can catch just his comments about Nike below.
