Doug Paisley Unplugs for Earnest, Acoustic Rendition of ‘Wide Open Plain’

Doug Paisley recently turned up for a spot on Acoustic Guitar Magazine’s “Acoustic Guitar Sessions,” where he played a gorgeous, heartfelt rendition of his 2011 single, “Wide Open Plain.” Playing a ’50s-vintage Martin D-28, the Canadian singer-songwriter spoke with Mark Segal Kemp about his influences (he loves bluegrass legends Norman Blake and Tony Rice), finding your own unique sound, working with Garth Hudson, and the difficulties with being a left-handed musician.
