Dan Deacon Tries ‘Learning To Relax’ on Ironically Spastic New Single

It's the latest cut from his forthcoming album, 'Gliss Riffer'

It’s ironic that Dan Deacon would call anything “Learning To Relax” considering his taste for glitchy, spinal-fluid-running-backward electronic sounds. Even so, the bespectacled Wham City veteran has a new track called just that. It may not take its title literally, but “Learning To Relax” is beautiful in its own way.

Infusing a whirling mess of digital soundscapes with some almost-calming backing harmonies, “Learning To Relax” likewise has a color-crazed set of visuals, where two primary colors split apart like string cheese and evolve into TV snow-like fuzzy wiggling worms. Maybe consider popping a Dramamine before this one. Listen above, and look out for Deacon’s forthcoming album, Gliss Riffer, on February 25 via Domino. His tour dates are included below.
