Wish Dive Into the Life Aquatic for ‘Slacker’ Video

Canadian dream-pop crew tours the Aquarium of Niagara in the gauzy clip

Could there be a more fitting setting for a shoegaze-indebted single’s music video than a solo trip to the aquarium? Probably not, as evidenced by the lovely video for “Slacker,” a highlight from last year’s self-titled album by Canadian dream-pop fuzzsters Wish. As dueling Yo La Tengo-esque guitars envelop Kyle Connolly’s washed-out vocals, the singer walks around an empty Aquarium of Niagara, gawking at the fish, cuddling with a sea lion, and at video’s climax, taking a dip in the deep blue himself. It’s enough to make you want to cut out from your own previously scheduled activities to take a little field trip.

Watch the clip above, and if you’re in the Toronto area next Friday, check out the band at the Come Up to My Room art and design exhibition at the Gladstone Hotel.
