Watch the Clash’s ‘New Year’s Day ’77’ Doc, Featuring Previously Unseen Live Footage

The Clash

The BBC has assembled a brand-new documentary on revolutionary punks the Clash, titled The Clash: New Year’s Day ’77. Shot by The Great Rock ‘N’ Roll Swindle director Julien Temple, the 75-minute film — which is currently available to stream on YouTube — chronicles the band’s 1977 New Year’s performance at the renowned Roxy in London. In addition to the previously unseen concert footage, the movie also offers a look at media broadcasts, political riots, and other punk icons of the day (Johnny Rotten of the Sex Pistols makes an appearance, of course). Watch it above.
