Spoon Return to ‘Austin City Limits’ For Buttoned-Up, Melancholic Set

Britt Daniel and company offer a well-practiced performance for the late night television

The 40th season of the concert TV show Austin City Limits has already pulled out a lot of stops in the guests over the last couple of months with appearances by Nine Inch Nails and Beck, but more recent another indie rock icon made a stop at the show on Saturday night. Britt Daniel and Spoon, supporting their 2014 album They Want My Soul (one of SPIN’s 50 best of 2014), returned to the show’s Austin, TX studios with a handful of tracks from that record. It’s a shorter performance than you’re used to seeing on the show, but the stormy atmosphere that the band conjures, and the effortless cool that marks their performances is more than enough to make up for their abbreviated set. Fellow Austinites White Denim also appear for a performance. You can watch the whole thing above and check out Spoon’s setlist below.

Spoon’s Austin City Limits set list:

“Inside Out”
“Rainy Taxi”
“I Turn My Camera On”
“Outlier”
“Do You”
“Knock Knock Knock”
