Can metal still be hardcore if it’s played on pink instruments in a toy-strewn basement? Based off of this video of two guys playing an intense medley of Slayer songs on what are presumably their daughters’ instruments, the answer is… kind of? It’s astounding that the small “First Act” instruments don’t collapse under all the furious shredding and drumming, and it’s even more astounding that the music is still recognizably Slayer despite the setting.
Perhaps it’s not really that big a surprise that Slayer’s music lends itself to kids’ instruments — the big ol’ softies in the band did rescue a homeless kitten last month, after all. Watch it above.
