Of Montreal are back with the second single from their forthcoming record, Aureate Gloom. Following the political-minded “Bassem Sabry,” the Athens glam-pop’s latest is titled “Empyrean Abattoir” and it’s a springy adventure that frequently shifts gears from the far-out, good-times the band typically peddles to a bass-heavy, minor-key mope-fest, with frontman Kevin Barnes confessing that “it never hurts as deeply as I want it to.”
