My Midnight Heart Splashes Down with Lush New Track, ‘Drown’

The avant-pop singer is set to release two EPs in February

“There’s a whispering in my mind,” Angelica Allen — a.k.a. My Midnight Heart — chants in her clamorous new song “Drown,” the title track to the Brooklyn resident’s forthcoming EP (out on February 3). It’s impressive how “whispering” can inspire such luxurious, layered — and, well, loud — crescendo. Blanketing vocals over heartbeat-like bass drums, “Drown” builds to a thunderous climax as Allen’s soprano washes over the song. You’ll almost certainly want to add this to your “RIYL Bat For Lashes” playlist.

Hear “Drown” below, and, after you’ve soaked in her February 3 EP, look out for a second My Midnight Heart EP, arriving on February 17.
