The nominees for this year’s Juno Awards, Canada’s equivalent of the Grammys, were announced today. It was magical. Seriously — white reggae aficionados Magic! led the field with five nominations, getting nods for Breakthrough Group Of The Year, Pop Album Of The Year, Single Of The Year, Songwriter Of The Year, and Juno Fan Choice. They’ll compete against Alvvays for the coveted Breakthrough Group award (the former, lo-fi pop group is also up for Alternative Album of the Year).
Kiesza and Leonard Cohen follow Magic!’s act with four nominations apiece. Hedley, Serge Fiori, and, uh, Nickelback have three each. Check out the full list of nominees here. The Juno Awards will be held at the FirstOntario Centre in Hamilton, Onatrio, on March 15.
