Kate Pierson Stands Up for Sea Turtles in ‘Bring Your Arms’

Kate Pierson

With a few weeks left to go before her debut solo album surfaces, B-52’s founding member Kate Pierson has unleashed Guitars and Microphones‘ second single and lyric video for the environmentalist-minded “Bring Your Arms.” Penned by Chris Braide and Sia — the record’s executive producer — “Bring Your Arms” is the result of Pierson and the “Chandelier” singer witnessing a sea turtle rescue in Mexico; the title references people literally wrapping their arms around turtle eggs and moving them to safety. A portion of the proceeds for “Bring Your Arms” will be donated to the Sea Shepherd Conservation Society.

Opening with placid keys and slippery electronic beats, the song places Pierson’s distinctively sharp vocals front and center as she observes the beached eggs and implores the listener to “Bring some help / Bring your arms” before the hatchlings-to-be end up “cut and carved.” Meanwhile, the song’s accompanying clip dunks the flame-haired songstress in the sea itself as the the track’s shelled protagonists glide through their natural habitat.

Check the lyric video above, and grab Guitars and Microphones on February 17 when it drops via Lazy Meadow/Kobalt.
