Best known for his behind-the-scenes work with musicians such as Disclosure (“Together”), Sam Smith (“Stay With Me”), and Mary J. Blige (on her most recent release, The London Sessions), British singer-songwriter Jimmy Napes has just released “Give It Up,” the debut single from his upcoming The Making of Me EP, due on March 9.
The song highlights the sacrifices worth making to keep a lover happy. “I’ll give it up if you want me to / I’ll give it up if it’s you I’d lose,” Napes sings in a layered falsetto with an equally strong bottom-line vocal. It’s retro but forward-thinking all at once, and a good notch in his already well-worn musical belt. Stream it below.
