Soundgarden fans, it’s time to sort-of rejoice: Chris Cornell announced in a series of tweets last night that he’d just begun work an an upcoming solo album.

The gravelly-voiced howler’s last solo album, Scream, was released in 2009 and featured heavy, plodding production by Timbaland — stream it below via Spotify if you’ve forgotten. Last month, it was also reported that Cornell will also front the upcoming one-off Mad Season reunion in Seattle. Good year for the grunge set.
