A$AP Yams, Founder of the A$AP Mob, Has Died at 26

A$AP Yams Dead Rocky Ferg Age 26

Steven Rodriguez, better known as A$AP Yams, the founder of the A$AP Mob, has reportedly died according to various reports on social media. No information has surfaced yet regarding the cause or time of his passing, but several members of the Mob, including A$AP Rocky and A$AP Ferg have confirmed his death on Instagram.

Rodriguez started the A$AP Mob (which stands for “Always Strive and Prosper) back in 2007 with A$AP Bari and A$AP Illz, and would become something of a budding rap mogul in the coming years. After meeting A$AP Rocky in 2008, Rodriguez’ passion project—his blog and the close knit group of rappers around him suddenly started taking off, even landing Rocky and Ferg on major label contracts. Aside from a castoff single here and there, Yams wasn’t much of a rapper himself, choosing instead to function as a sort of aesthetic guide to the crew, while still occasionally appearing in major roles in music videos including in Rocky’s “Purple Swag” and “Peso.” You can see Ferg and Rocky’s Instagram tributes below, both which refer to Yams as a “brother.”
