Arcade Fire’s Will Butler Gets Reverential on ‘Christmas 2014′
As he preps 'Policy,' the younger Butler brother shares a festive single
Arcade Fire’s Will Butler is set to release his debut solo album Policy in March, but for those who couldn’t wait any longer for more new material from the younger Butler brother, he decided to share a holiday single called “Christmas 2014″ on Thursday. Reverential in tone and composition, Butler sighs his way through a series of religious images while gently plucking away at the piano keys. As a ballad in the most classic sense, it’s a more staid affair than “Take My Side,” the only full taste of Policy so far. It portends pretty great things for his forthcoming solo record, even if this two-minute tune is just a castoff Christmas-themed track. You can stream this cut below, and be sure to look for Policy on March 10 via Merge Records.
