So Killer Mike Isn’t Planning to Embark on a Speaking Tour of Colleges

Update: SPIN has received word from Killer Mike’s publicist that he in fact does not have a college lecture tour planned and does not have a partnership with Gotham Artists. The firm is spreading the word that he his available for speaking engagements at colleges and will help, should any happen — but there are no confirmed plans. It is merely a cool possibility.

Killer Mike has a lot to say. Between Run the Jewels‘ tremendous Run the Jewels 2 and the MC’s increasing political presence, the Atlanta rapper’s insights have garnered plenty of well-deserved attention. Now he plans to go from “killing microphones” to “killing lecterns” as he prepares to embark on a speaking tour of colleges. To that end, Mike has partnered with speaking engagement firm Gotham Artists to “spark dialogue on college campuses across the nation on community building, race relations, and the landscape after Ferguson.” It’s a topic that Killer Mike knows well, as he’s passionately spoken about the city’s recent tragedy and unrest on news outlets like CNN and Huffington Post. Mike’s also addressed his views in song and on stage; immediately following the non-indictment in Ferguson, his speech in St. Louis went appropriately viral. No dates or schools have been announced yet.
