Connect Sessions Ep. 8 — Subverting the Digital Paradigm

One of the aesthetic qualities which unites Tom Krell, the musician also known as How To Dress Well, and Melissa Matos, who runs the creative studio TRUSST, is the shared desire to use digital tools to manifest something more human than cyber. Watching the pair work through their Connect Sessions powered by Microsoft collaboration, utilizing Kinect motion sensors alongside textured analog graphics triggered by Krell’s movements, one can see the pair pushing their creativity towards less-defined but more passionate graphic spaces. They are looking for an emotional breakthrough. “If this works,” says Krell, “it could be a really good example of technology making human interaction possible, rather than standing in between human beings as it so often does.”
