Sky Ferreira Hazily Covers Hole’s ‘Asking For It’

DIIV's Zachary Cole Smith guested on guitar

Here’s a long-overdue Sky Ferreira update: earlier this week, the “You’re Not The One” singer did a killer cover of Hole’s ’94 classic “Asking For It” with DIIV’s Zachary Cole Smith on guitar while performing at the Belasco Theater in Los Angeles. It’s a great choice if you think about it, since Ferreira has just the low-register vocals to rival Courtney Love’s.

She also told Billboard about re-teaming with producers producers Ariel Rechtshaid and Justin Raisen on the follow-up to Night Time, My Time, which also might feature some work by Primal Scream’s Bobby Gillepsie. “Right now, I have the opportunity to try things,” Ferreira said. “I’m enjoying myself a lot more. I think I’m in a different headspace than I was last time out, because so much has happened in the last year and a half. I think [the album] will be a little heavier. It’s not going to be an electronic album completely — it’s going to be a blend of everything.” No complaint there. Check Ferreira’s cover above.
