Foo Fighters Give Jane’s Addiction’s ‘Mountain Song’ an Arena-Sized Makeover

Perry Farrell and Joe Walsh joined the band at an intimate Los Angeles show

Friday night, Foo Fighters celebrated the Los Angeles episode of their HBO show Sonic Highways with an intimate set at the 500-capacity Roxy Theatre on the Sunset Strip. And if a ripping set of songs from their new record wasn’t special enough for the L.A. crowd, the band brought out a couple of local greats, Joe Walsh and Jane’s Addiction’s Perry Farrell, for a couple of arena-sized reworks of their hits. The alt-rockers took on Jane’s Addiction’s “Mountain Song” with Farrell handling the adenoidal vocalizations and Walsh on a few fiery blues licks, and then the latter stuck around for a performance of his own “Rocky Mountain Way.” You can watch fan-shot footage of “Mountain Song” above via Consequence of Sound.
