Pharrell’s New Video Looks a Lot Like Someone Else’s Video (Again)

The Knocks Pharrell It Girl Video Dreaming Ripoff Idea Stolen Twitter

Earlier this week, Pharrell released the video for his new G I R L cut, “It Girl,” which featured an animated quest for love in the virtual SIM-girl world. This morning, New York electronic duo the Knocks tweeted out some side-by-side screencaps of their April 2014 “Dreaming” video alongside images of the Grammy-winning, hat-wearing superstar’s new visuals. “Great minds?” they wrote, stopping short of any actual accusation.

As you’ll see below, the videos look farily similar, something Pharrell was accused of earlier this year with the visual for his smash hit “Happy.” He also got into some hot water with Marvin Gaye’s estate about the creation of “Blurred Lines,” which may or may not have been inspired in a big way by a Gaye track.

We’d hate to see this become a theme for Pharrell, although it’s probaby easier to chalk this up to his team than to the artist himself. You also needn’t worry about a feud in the making: the Knocks made sure to tweet positive vibes in Skateboard P‘s general direction.

Watch both videos below for comparison. You know, they could totally mend any lingering ill-will by collaborating on a track together. We’re just saying.
