There’s wearing your heart on your sleeve, and then there’s pretending to slice your wrists open as a joke. Sharon Van Etten, who typically does the former in her songwriting, has Wetlands star Carla Juri doing the latter in her new clip for “Your Love is Killing Me.”
Helmed by Sean Durkin (who you might recognize as the director of 2011’s Martha Marcy May Marlene and U.K. miniseries Southcliffe), “Your Love is Killing Me” features Juri swapping masturbating with veggies for walking gloomily through Manhattan with (fake) bloodied wrists. Once she finds her beau in a bar, she collapses on the floor, presumably from blood loss. (OK, whatever happened to blasting Peter Gabriel from a boom box outside of someone’s window??)
