Morrissey has been treated for cancer four times in the past few years, the singer revealed to Spanish newspaper El Mundo (by way of Consequence of Sound). The former Smiths frontman’s past two North American tours have been subject to cancelations and delays, but the 55-year-old said he doesn’t want to stop touring despite recommendations from doctors. “It’s ingrained in me,” he said.
Despite the repeated cancer-scraping treatments (Moz did not specify what kind of cancer he’s been fighting), the iconic crooner seems to be taking it all in stride. “If I die, then I die. And if I don’t, then I don’t,” Morrissey told El Mundo. “Right now I feel good. I am aware that in some of my recent photos I look somewhat unhealthy, but that’s what illness can do. I’m not going to worry about that, I’ll rest when I’m dead.” For now he’s staying busy touring Europe for his latest record, World Peace is None of Your Business, and intimidating people into being nice to animals, as he is wont to do.
