CHVRCHES Break Out New Synth-Pop Song at Austin City Limits

CHVRCHES, New Song, ACL, Richard Pryor

If you’ve had your fill of last year’s CHVRCHES album, The Bones of What You Believe, and are ready for another round of pop gems with densely layered keys, boom-bap drums and rousing singalong hooks, good news: it appears that they’re getting ready themselves. The Glasgow synth-pop trio played a new song at the Austin City Limits festival this weekend, temporarily called “Richard Pryor” but given its appearance on previous setlists under names of different actors, it seems unlikely to stay as such. The song is an ’80s-indebted jam very much in line with the best of Bones, with one of their most anthemic choruses yet: “Hold on to an idea / And we’re fighting what we can’t see / We just hold on to an idea / And we’ll go until we can’t hear.”

Listen above, and then tide yourselves other with some of their better cover songs of the past 12 months.
