Caribou Reflects on the Timelessness of ‘Our Love’ in New Video

To celebrate release of his new album Our Love (which is out today), Canadian electronic producer Caribou (nèe Dan Snaith) has just released the gorgeous video for the record’s thumping titular track. Directed by Ryan Staake of Brooklyn-based production company Pomp and Clout, the “Our Love” visuals follow an older woman as she wanders around her home, revisiting emotional moments along her journey.

Staake films some very close over-the-shoulder angles in the video, giving the clip as close to a POV feel as you can get without actually assuming the role of the unnamed woman. There’s also a spectacular moment about halfway through when the aging lead walks through a gigantic hedge and undergoes a startling transformation. We don’t want to give it away, but suffice to say, it’s trippy.

In a press release, Staake said that the video was meant to contrast “the seeming limitless of youth with the reality of death in later years.” Watch “Our Love” above and stream Caribou’s new album now.
