After last week’s premiere of “900 Miles From My Home,” Bob Dylan has offered up a sampler of his new album, The Basement Tapes Complete: The Bootleg Series Vol. 11, for streaming via NPR. It’s a fascinating look at the legendary musician and the Band’s process, with six discs offering restored and recovered tracks alongside un-dubbed listens to his original 1975 project, including “new” versions of “You Ain’t Goin’ Nowhere” and “This Wheel’s On Fire.”
As NPR points out, it’s easy to dismiss reissues at first glance, but this Dylan project offers a raw and untethered opportunity to delve deep into the folk hero’s massive musical history. Stream it here.
