King Buzzo Is a Better Golfer Than Justin Bieber, but Just Barely

Top 100 Musicians Golf King Buzzo

Earlier this summer we laughed our asses off at a bunch of professional golfers who couldn’t name all four Beatles (one even thought George Lucas might have been in the band). But a new Golf Digest list compiles a whole bunch club-swingers who doubtlessly know the difference between Georges Harrison and Lucas, even if they aren’t up to pro-level snuff. Feast your eyes upon music’s top 100 golfers, that rare list in which Avicii places last.

Country singer Vince Gill touts a +0.3 handicap, leading the pack as the only one to score above the scratch mark at zero. Otherwise, here are some other high-ranking notables: No Doubt drummer Adrian Young ranked fourth with a 1.8 handicap; Kenny G ranked fifth with a 2 handicap; Justin Timberlake landed at 11th, with a 4.2 handicap; and Alice Cooper tied at 13th with a 5.5 handicap.

The list also includes (handicaps in parentheses) NOFX’s “Fat Mike” Burkett and Smokey Robinson tied at 41st (12); the Melvins’ Buzz “King Buzzo” Osborne at 57th (13.6); Justin Bieber, Adam Levine, Harry Styles, and Dean Ween tied at 60th (15), Kings of Leon’s Nathan Followill tied at 76th (17), Kid Rock tied at 78th (18), REM’s Mike Mills tied at 85th (19), Willie Nelson tied at 87th (20), and Avicii rounds out the list at 100th (36).

Weird that Golf Wang didn’t make the list, right?

In an accompanying piece photographing golf-playing musicians, King Buzzo momentarily removed the golf ball from his mouth to say he was introduced to the game about seven years ago and now plays “obsessively.” He told the publication, “I chart fairways hit, greens hit, chips, putts — just about everything. I’m not a long-ball hitter, but as long as it’s playable, I’m happy. I don’t have the false idea I’ll ever be a great golfer, but I’m not going to let that ruin it for me.”

Thanks Buzzo for the judgement-free zen-like approach. We’ll lay off those no-nothing-about-music golfers, since we don’t really know anything about golf anyway.
