The Replacements have traditionally been known to occasionally spice up their live sets with unexpected covers, but on this reunion tour they’ve pulled one totally out of left field. Friday night in Queens, New York, as on most of the dates of the tour, the band played a rollicking rendition of the Jackson 5’s “I Want You Back.” Though they’re only able to make their way through about a minute, its a pretty heartwarming take on the track. Brooklyn Vegan notes that singer/guitarist Paul Westerberg said that the band was “proud of themselves for learning that riff.” You can watch fan-shot video above via Pitchfork.
