Queens of the Stone Age Make Good With Nick Oliveri for Halloween Bonanza

Queens of the Stone Age Halloween Nick Oliveri

Former Queens of the Stoneage bassist Nick Oliveri will reunite with Josh Homme and his bandmates for a planned six-song encore at their Halloween mega-show spectacular at The Forum in Los Angeles on October 31.

Oliveri told the NME recently, “Josh asked me to come up and do six songs with Queens, like an encore set. A reunion, but not a reunion. I’m going to get up and play some bass and sing some songs at the end of the show. It should be an interesting night.”

The bald-headed, long-bearded, and often shirtless Oliveri was booted from the band in 2004 after working on QOTSA’s Rated R and Songs For The Deaf, but according to Homme the two have remained friends since and he even supplied some backing vocals on the Queens’ 2013 album …Like Clockwork, following the tease of him rejoining the band.

As mentioned yesterday, the QOTSA Halloween night show looks like quite the event to behold. Aside from musical support from the Kills, JD McPherson, and the Uncontrollable (a duo made up of Oliveri and the Dwarves’ Blag Dahlia), as Stereogum reports, it’s set to include “sideshow freaks,” “carnival games,” a “horrifying blackout haunted house,” and more.
