The Prince-powered gifts continue to rain down from the funky heavens like so much purple manna. A week ago we hear “Clouds” and just this morning “U Know,” both from the Minneapolitan marvel’s forthcoming Art Official Age album. But that solo album wont’ be arriving all by its lonesome on September 30. Set for the same date is an LP from Prince and his 3RDEYEGIRL band dubbed Plectrumelectrum, and now we’ve got a track from that to share as well. “Whitecaps” is a slinky number featuring lavishly languid guitar strokes and a slow-blooming rhythm section. “I saw a black butterfly loose its wings today,” we hear, but the lush chorus (listen for Prince’s voice) promises better days ahead. Listen below, and check the Plectrumelectrum cover art beneath that.
