Parquet Courts Blitzkrieg Pop on ‘This Is Happening Now’

Witness the art-punk version of waiting for the beat to drop

Parquet Courts are here to save the music with a fuzzy new track called “This Is Happening Now.” The New York City band has teamed up with the Less Artists More Condos project for a split single with Future Punx, with 100 percent of the digital proceeds benefitting VH1’s Save the Music campaign. “Steam escaping from the street / Collected into busses, the young ones with their lunches,” lead singer Andrew Savage intones over a bait-and-switch slowed beat before the song amps up the energy tenfold. The group recently released their SPIN Essential album Sunbathing Animals featuring the tracks “Black and White” and “Instant Disassembly.” You can stream the band’s “Happening Now” below.
