Mary J. Blige’s ‘London Sessions’ Trailer Features a Very Bearded Sam Smith

Mary J. Blige likes London so much that she named an album after it. This morning, the trailer for that album —The London Sessions, set for a fall release —premiered, featuring appearances by writers and producers Sam Smith and Rodney Jerkins. Though it’s short, the clip offers some teases as to what the record will sound like (hint: think big, sweeping vocals and innovative club beats).

This weekend, Blige dropped the first song from the album, “Right Now,” a collaboration with Disclosure that was written by Smith himself. The New York R&B-ist had previously teamed up with Sam Smith for a duet version of his hit single “Stay With Me,” which the pair performed live at the Apollo in June, and also hopped on a remix of Disclosure’s “F for You” earlier this year.

Watch the brief trailer via Pitchfork to get a glimpse into Blige’s mindset when she recorded the Sessions LP due in London this summer. Watch right here after September 10.
