Karen O has a big schoolgirl crush and she wants everyone to know about it on her acoustic new single, “Day Go By.” The track is a cut from the Yeah Yeah Yeahs singer’s upcoming solo album Crush Songs and perfectly blends some understated guitar chords with O’s fuzzy vocals. “Can’t sleep I’m wasted, can’t seem to make it to the dawn,” she sings on the “Moon Song” cousin, her smile beaming through the two-minute-long track.
“Day Go By” is the second taste of Karen O’s debut solo album, following the similarly lovely “Rapt.” Both fit the theme of what the singer has called an “ever continuing love crusade” she experienced at age 27 (she’s now 35).
