Kanye West Performs in Australia After Brief Hospital Stay

Kanye west hospitalized australia melbourne migraine seizure

Kanye West had a brief health scare in Australia on Wednesday, September 10, reportedly undergoing an emergency MRI after being rushed to a Melbourne hospital. He was apparently diagnosed with a migraine and was able to perform his second of two shows at Rod Laver Arena later that night.

The reports come from two tabloids, Australia’s Woman’s Day, and the States’ very own TMZ. The former spoke with an eyetwitness, Loraine Terry, whose daughter was undergoing an MRI at the same hospital. “Everyone was moved out of the waiting and consulting rooms. We were the only ones left apart from doctors and nurses  we couldn’t leave as the MRI wasn’t finished,” she said. “Next thing we knew, Kanye was stretchered in surrounded by security. He had one side of his face covered with something white. We both knew it was him because we had seen his photo in the paper everyday and we were shocked because it looked so serious.” Woman’s Day also claims, without any supporting quotes, that doctors were worried that West suffered a seizure and gave him an emergency MRI.

Afterward, a hospital spokesperson refused to confirm or deny that West was a patient there, saying, “Yesterday afternoon we had 50 people in our emergency department. All were treated with respect and according to the severity of their symptoms.”

Meanwhile, TMZ is among several outlets to report that West suffered a severe migraine after playing basketball in the afternoon. Sources said it was all just a precautionary hospital visit, so Yeezy fans can rest easy. He performed as scheduled last night, playing a full set, and still has three shows to go on his Australian tour. The gigs were originally set for May but, according to Live Nation, he postponed them to work on his still-unnanounced 2014 follow-up to Yeezus.
